While performing Professional Services for large and small clients, a common requirement was the need for better reporting. Information was buried deep within the Vendor's database and the only way to unlock it was to hire a database expert who could utilize tools, such as Microsoft Access or Crystal Reports, to design static hard-coded reports. Each time the environment changed due to this reporting process, or systems were added or upgraded, our clients needed services to update those reports.

We did not see this traditional reporting process as a good use of our clients time or money. So, the engineers at OakTree Solutions leveraged their knowledge of Enterprise Management Database solutions, such as the CA Unicenter^® line of products, and developed a software product to put the power of writing those custom reports in the hands of clients.

Our goal was to create a tool easy enough for the computer novice to use, but also advanced enough to be the power user's best friend, and thus, OakTree Navigator was born.

Since 2000, OakTree Navigator has gone through many iterations. Starting out as a desktop-only single user application, OakTree Navigator has transitioned into a multi-user, distributed client server application. With our current version, Navigator 2008, our reporting tool has now firmly moved into the future as a powerful, web-based enterprise application delivering information instantly via an enhanced Web Generator.
